Our second annual Gear Swap!

The Red Oak Annual Gear Swap is a one day consignment sale held at the beginning of the school year in September.

It’s a chance for families in the Columbus community to stock up on outdoor gear at unbeatable prices, and for children at Red Oak to get the best outdoor gear for school.

In addition to great deals on new and gently used gear, Red Oak will be hosting a raffle drawing for a chance at some great products from local business. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the swap, and all ticket sales benefit Red Oak Community School.

The Day of the Swap:
Everyone in the community is welcome to come and shop the gear swap. Registration isn’t required. All proceeds from consignment sales and raffle tickets will benefit Red Oak Community School. This is a cash only event. We will not be accepting checks or credit cards.

Donate or Sell:
You can sell your gear and ROCS takes 20%. Or you can donate the items for ROCS benefit. Your choice!

If you are interested in cleaning out your closets and garages, we are looking for new or gently used gear that includes:

Rain boots
Rain jackets
Rain pants
Snow boots
Winter coat & pants
Winter hats
Gloves
Fleece jackets & soft shells
Backpacks
Tents
Sleeping bags
Sleeping pads
Camping accessories
Trekking poles
Rock climbing gear
Bike Accessories (lights, locks, etc) *no bikes or helmets please*
Trail running accessories

*We are excepting all sizes - kids and adult sizes.

Items will be sold on consignment. A portion of the sale price goes to benefit Red Oak Community School, and it’s future development. The consignment rate for all items is 20%. The rest of the money goes directly to you!

How to Sell:
To have your items sold at the swap, you need to fill out a registration form, tag your items, and drop them off during one of our drop-off times and location.

Registration forms are available when you drop off your items. Be ready to include the brand and any details (including broken part or tears) about each item, as well as the cost you will be listing each item at.

Price fairly - most items will not sell for more than 50% of their original price if used more than six months. If you’d like advice on pricing, talk to one of our helpers at our drop-off locations.

Dropping Off:
All items must be dropped off prior to the swap. We will not accept items the day of the swap.
Items should be dropped off in a labeled box or bag. Please include your name and phone number on the outside of your box or bag.
Include your completed registration form in your box or bag. Your name, address, and phone number must be included on this form in order to received your earning from the swap.

Red Oak families can drop off at the school during child pick up and drop off times. A space will be designated inside the building for gear swap drop-offs.

After the Swap:
Unsold items can be picked up at the end of the day, or a pick up time can be arranged with one of our helpers prior to or during the swap. The registration form will include an option to donate unsold items to Red Oak for those who wish to do so. Any item not picked up within 2 weeks of the event will be automatically donated to Red Oak. Donated items will be considered property of Red Oak and will either be used by the school or marked to sell with proceeds benefiting the school.
